The are constructed of UNFINISHED, UNTREATED PINE!! (SOFT wood attracts Carpenter Bee's!!)
Carpenter Bee's climb into the pre-drilled holes (they prefer using existing holes to having to drill their own), as they climb through, they see the light through the jar and will be attracted to the light... then they cannot climb back out!!
I built a NEW deck and noticed IMMEDIATELY these bee's starting to drill holes into my BRAND NEW deck!! I made a couple of these traps and not a single other hole was drilled into our deck, and we caught a HUGE number of bees this year!! I will put these up every Spring/Summer!!
